Solidarity 101: Labor struggles on college campuses

March 25, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

| free/potluck

Adjunct professors at Seattle University are organizing and fighting back, and students are learning the power of solidarity. Their struggle mirrors similar battles unfolding at college campuses across the nation — where universitities are paying non-tenured teachers the lowest possible wages with no job security. Simultaneously, students are confronting tuition hikes that leave them deep in debt upon graduation. This deplorable situation is an example of neoliberalism in the classroom — where students and instructors are seen as just another way to boost profits.

Also, come hear about one workers’ story of confronting discrimination on a Sound Transit public works project.
