In 2006, OWLS formed amidst a mass immigrant workers’ upsurge – and unions divided at the top. Seeing an urgent need to champion immigrant rights, and to forge solidarity across union lines, OWLS initiated grassroots education, boycotts, pickets, and strike solidarity to strengthen labor’s fighting spirit.
